Capturing Emotions

This baby is smiling at her dad—even though he isn’t visible in the photo, he’s there. It’s a picture that tells a story of love, because they know what it is. It is the expression of emotion that truly reveals a person’s soul. Emotions just happen; we can’t control them—they’re part of who we are. We fall in love with a photo because of a small smile or a captured glance. Capturing interactions can be just as captivating. At the same time, emotions can be captured in countless ways, not just by depicting faces and facial expressions. In photography, too, there is a wide range of approaches to depicting emotions. Lately, I’ve begun to realize what makes someone photogenic. It has nothing to do with physical appearance, but rather with the inner light we radiate when we truly let our guard down.
