Photos Taken at Home vs. Studio Photos

Many of you ask where it would be better to shoot a family photo series—at your home or at my studio? I don’t have a clear-cut answer; both options have their pros and cons. I love photos taken in your homes—they have a genuine, intimate feel—but at the same time, the lighting isn’t always perfect, and there can be issues with getting the right distances. In my studio, on the other hand, there’s nothing—just an “empty room” with a large window. :) There’s no fixed lighting because I mainly work with natural light, which is always changing—and that’s exactly what makes it exciting.

Many people think that only staged photos can be taken in a studio, but that’s not true! Authenticity comes from human connections—whether you’re at home on the couch in your living room or on the studio floor. :) I don’t like to direct you; I don’t like to tell you what pose to strike, but I do love chatting with you and seeing how you interact with each other.

I’d like to show you an example of all this to prove that spontaneous photos can be taken in the studio, too, and that you can capture genuine moments. We had it all here: running around, playing, hugging, music… :)
